Escondido Union School District Goes Green!

In the past, our schools sent home loads of flyers in students’ backpacks. As part of our efforts to be more environmentally friendly and to embrace innovative technology, we are moving from paper to a digital flyer delivery. Effective October 24, 2013, eflyers will be sent directly to parents’ email inboxes as well as posted on school websites for easy access. All flyers may be accessed by clicking on the  logo.

Every year, our schools will save tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. In addition, paperless delivery of school flyers removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff, and volunteers.

School-approved eflyers will keep you informed about upcoming school activities, programs, and events. And our children's backpacks will be a little bit lighter!

On February 24, 2014, Escondido Union School District’s Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jennifer Walters, announced her retirement, effective June 30, 2014. “It has been my privilege for the last eight years to lead the district’s continuous improvement journey as EUSD’s superintendent,” she said upon her announcement.  “Escondido Union’s excellent work in each of its schools and programs is sure to continue given EUSD’s dedicated School Board of Education, its high quality employees, and supportive parents.“ Over the spring months, Dr. Walters will assist the Board of Education with a superintendent search and will ensure a smooth leadership transition.

On March 10, 2014, the District hired a superintendent search firm, the Cosca Group, to gather stakeholder input regarding a new district leader, to recruit highly qualified  candidates, and to assist with the interviewing and hiring processes.  The Board of Education plans to announce the appointment of the new superintendent by the end of June 2014.

Greetings Community Members and Parents,
We welcome you to the Escondido Union School District’s website. Our 23 elementary and middle schools within Escondido proudly serve preschool through eighth-grade students.  This 2013-2014 school year promises a continued partnership with our children, our employees and you to ensure universal student achievement and excellence in our public schools.

In spring of 2013, the district adopted focus goals that define the school district’s priorities for the next two years.  Click here. This will be how we continue to define and achieve excellence in our public schools.

One example of our excellence is found in this video, depicting North Broadway School students and their science education program.  The video was part of the school’s successful spring campaign to win a $10,000 grant to forward their schoolwide science labs. Each of Escondido Union’s schools has strong educational programs which support students’ personalized learning levels and innovative learning. We encourage all community members to visit our schools. Tours can be arranged with our Escondido Education Foundation.  See you at our schools!

Thank you for your partnership,
Escondido Union School Board
Jennifer Walters, Ed.D., Superintendent
